Clinical Supervision - Organisational Contracts and Clinician Direct

Quality clinical supervision is fundamental to both individuals and the broader organisation.  Common themes in supervision:

  • ethical dilemmas and codes of conduct

  • stress and conflict - workplace specific

  • burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma and self care

  • imposter syndrome - competency building

  • career planning and progression, education and upskilling

  • emotional reactivity and insensitivity

  • workplace and workload stressors

  • systemic issues and injustice

  • education and greater job satisfaction

  • reflective practice

Benefits for organisations include:

  • staff retention and satisfaction

  • an effective 'control' to assist with managing    psycho social hazards

  • better outcomes for clients and best practice

  • assisting with worker wellbeing, satisfaction and productivity

  • identifying themes within the workplace.

My approach to supervision is relationship based and holistic.  I use the PASETM model.  The PASETM  Reflective Frameworks four quadrants are:

  • Practice/Professional aspects

  • Administrative and Line Management

  • Supports

  • Educative/Professional Development

This model is collaborative and flexible, depending on the areas the supervisee (employee) needs to cover in each individual session.  I offer supervision to all helping professionals, including allied health clinicians, child protection workers and support staff.

Department of Communities

For close to twenty years I have contracted to the Department of Communities. My briefs have included:

  • Foster Carer Assessments

  • Family & Significant Other Assessments

  • Adoption Assessments

  • Home Study Reports

  • Court Reports

  • Carer Reviews

I have significant experience in areas of child protection, trauma informed care, adoptions and out of home care settings. My knowledge also extends to include the interplay of child protection, disabilities and accommodation needs.

NDIS

I complete Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs) for NDIS participants living with Autism, FASD, Intellectual Disability and certain Psycho-Social Disabilities.

I am trained in Pearson Level B, standardised testing of the Vineland-3 and Adaptive Behaviour Assessment (ABAS-3) These tests, along with the Sensory Processing Measures (SPM-2) are central parts of my FCAs.

A social worker's FCA focuses on the individual in the wider context of their environment. Addressing the intersectionality of societal barriers is crucial. My FCA's aligns with a Social Model of Disability as highlighted in the Australia Disability Strategy 2021 - 2031.

Department of Justice

I have been appointed as a Single Expert Witness with the Children's Court of WA.

My role is to complete parenting capacity reports which are normally requested by the Department of Communities. Through a series of comprehensive interviews with parents or family members, the interplay of complex factors and the impact on children in care are addressed.

My clinical experience over almost twenty five years in areas such as drug and alcohol dependency, trauma, mental health issues, grief and loss, family and domestic violence, disabilities, relationships and family systems create an informed backdrop to these reports.
